My other clinic, Unika Medical Centre, is a multidisciplinary facility encompassing comprehensive diagnostic methods and therapies. While other clinics do not distinguish between different reasons leading to chronic pain, we believe that pain and suffering following unsuccessful surgeries, traumatic injuries, motor vehicle or pedestrian accidents, and other misfortunes have unique influences on the biopsychosocial aspects of human beings.

In court or insurance dispute cases, the diagnosis of chronic pain may become a backbone argument to allow an injured person to access the necessary treatments and receive compensation. In M.N.M. v. Aviva Insurance Canada, chronic pain was described as more than the mere repetition of pain complaints. “Chronic pain is a severe, debilitating condition distinct from ongoing or recurring pain.” To find chronic pain, the Tribunal applied the six criteria found in the 6th edition of the American Medical Association (AMA) Guidelines. When a claimant presents with complaints of such a problem, and direct and/or circumstantial evidence is supportive, chronic pain diagnosis receives different and highlighted attention. Not necessary that any claimant would qualify as a chronic pain sufferer. Many people were injured and remained functional. Nonetheless, when their problems remain mismanaged, their conditions may rapidly deteriorate, and the opportunity to restore their health will be lost. The scope of our practice includes assessment, diagnosis, and management of injury-related chronic pain and functional limitations. We work with other medical specialties to ensure comprehensiveness and diagnostic accuracy. We accept patients referred by physicians, legal representatives, and insurance. The multifaceted virtual program requires skilled healthcare professionals and resources. Unfortunately, public funding is not available for this cause. Motor vehicle and private insurances or any other alternative financial support are required.
